WHO ARE THE MASONS?

Masons in Olympia, Tumwater and Lacey congregate at Harmony Lodge #18, the friendliest Lodge in Thurston County, WA. Our Lodge includes a broad cross-section of the community and we welcome all men over the age of 18 who want to improve themselves by associating with like-minded peers. Our membership is distributed fairly evenly across age groups and by profession, although because of the proximity to Fort Lewis (JBLM), many of our members are active duty military or veterans.

The Masonic Fraternity is the oldest Fraternity in the world. The Masonic Family includes Masons as well as organizations for their ladies, couples, and youth.

The Masonic Family provides more than $2 million a day to charitable activities such as hospitals, youth scholarship, and those less fortunate than we.

Brethren,

This past weekend, I attended the District Meeting for District 17 held in Vancouver, Washington. It's my pleasure to report that at this meeting, Harmony 18 Lodge was presented with the Pillar of Progress Award for Technology, by the Grand Master, Michael L. Sanders. This award was given to Harmony 18 for our new website.

This website was designed and constructed by WB Ed Woods. We were the only Lodge in our district to receive a Pillar of Progress Award, making this award a great honor. Harmony 18 would not have received this award if not for the hard work of WB Ed. The next time you see Ed, please thank him for all his hard work and dedication to our Lodge. And be sure to visit our website, www.harmony18.org. I look forward to seeing all of you this summer at our Summer barbeques.

Fraternally,

W:.B:. Clint Brown

From the Secretary's Desk

Past Masters (including affiliated) of Harmony, Are you interested in attending Grand Lodge this June, in Vancouver? It is a shortened schedule this year, only Friday/Saturday: June 8/9, 2012 Vancouver Hilton - Vancouver, WA.

If you are interested in attending some or all of Grand Lodge's events, dinners, etc. let me know and I'll make sure you are pre-registered. The cost, as always, is $20 per person to attend the AC and be able to vote on resolutions and officers.

Friday's session starts at 10 a.m. and Saturday's begins at 8 a.m. Bring your aprons if you like.

Remember, this is the first time in a while that we've had vacancies for two Grand Lodge elected officers - it may take several ballots to have a majority for either or both offices.

I will be attending and I have down already that RWB Dave Owen and WB Ross (as a principal officer) are attending and WB Rod says he is considering the opportunity. As for the rest of you, if you haven't already let me know, call or email me or see me at the May Harmony meetings. I have to send in our pre-registration forms by the 18th of May. However, of course, you may attend at the last minute - you just won't have a packet and name badge waiting for you and they'll have to assemble those materials on site.

Fraternally,

V:.W:.B:. Brian Morgan

Harmony Lodge #18 is returning to Cheney Stadium to watch our Tacoma Rainiers take on Las Vegas on Sunday August 19th.  While we are hosting the event, it's open to all Masonic friends and family – including you!  We would be very pleased if any or all Brothers of your Lodge would join us for the afternoon.  This is not a fundraiser, but a day of fun and fellowship!

The game begins at 1:30 pm, and game tickets are a mere $10.50, which includes a hot dog and a soft drink.  The jumbo-tron TV in centerfield will welcome all South Sound Masons and display the Square and Compass for all to see.  If interested, and you'd want to sit with the group, please contact W:.B:. Kris Graap @ 360-493-8878 or kgraap@comcast.net as soon as possible to reserve your seats and for more information.  (Please note that because tickets are non-refundable, we cannot actually order your tickets until payment is received.)
